When given the opportunity to partner with Downtown Santa Monica, it was a dream come true. Since I was a teenage girl, Downtown Santa Monica has always been an exciting place for me to spend time shopping, dining and sightseeing, and I've created so many memories there with my friends, sister, mom and now fiancé.
Downtown Santa Monica has become bigger and better throughout the years and is my go-to for great shopping by the beach. There is a wide variety of stores, from beauty and accessories to shoes and fashion – truly something for everyone. The best part for me, is that it's all outdoors, accompanied by entertainment, photographable places, and the sound of beach waves.
Spring and summer are the perfect seasons to enjoy the beautiful outdoors in Downtown Santa Monica and my fashion-loving ways are already craving new outfits and sunshine-filled shopping. Trends are always changing, but I wanted to share the trends I'm currently loving and provide some warm weather outfit inspiration for the sunny days ahead!
So, I put together 3 spring/summer outfits that highlight the trends I'm currently loving from some of my favorite stores in Downtown Santa Monica: Cotton On, Crossroads Trading, and Brandy Melville. My goal was to provide some ideas that are not your typical spring/summer florals (which I love), but to help create some other outfit ideas for you!
Look 1: Cotton On
For my first outfit, I went with an all white look accessorized with some oversized leopard print hair clips (a big trend at the moment that I'm loving). When I think of a classic spring/summer look, all white definitely comes to mind. It's very chic, clean, and appropriate for many occasions (although wine tasting while wearing white can be living life on the edge – but hey, as long as it looks cute!). I found a simple one-sleeved bodysuit and a ruffled skirt at Cotton On, which, when paired, almost looks like I created my very own dress. They also had a vast variety of accessories, and I definitely scored when I found the printed hair clips to give my look more character and a stylish touch without going overboard.
Look 2: Crossroads Trading
As excited as I was with all the great finds in Downtown Santa Monica, I was pleasantly surprised with this look I put together from Crossroads Trading. It's hard to believe how many good brands and designers this store carries for such a rad deal. I found this gingham set (from the brand Olivaceous), Dolce Vita ankle boots (in great condition), and a pair of new white sunglasses, all under $50. So many gems at this store. As for the pieces I found, I had to have this gingham set – gingham is a print that is here to stay! Sets are great for when you don't want to put too much thought into combining pieces. A matching set looks stylish and is already ready to-go!
Look 3: Brandy Melville
For my final look, I had to go with another classic print - a leopard skirt paired with a rock tee and a wool beret, all from Brandy Melville. Leopard might surprise you for a spring/summer look, but as long as it's styled right and not done overboard, it's a fun, versatile print to incorporate into your wardrobe this time of year. I love pairing leopard prints with rock tees to give it a little edge, and I wore this look with sneakers to give it a casual and cool feel, especially for walking around Downtown Santa Monica and catching the sunset at the Santa Monica Pier. Brandy Melville has some really good quality rock tees and other pieces that pair well with a summertime look.
I had the best time in Downtown Santa Monica exploring the shops for these looks. These stores are all within blocks of each other, making the outing not only fun, but easy and stress-free. And while I was there, I got to enjoy a rooftop lunch with a beach view, and spen time with loved ones, too. Another day to add to my favorites, and I encourage you to check this area out as soon as you can!
